Our Pedigree Galloway Beef is renowned for its rich and wholesome flavour, matured in a low intensive farming system. Fed on the grasses, herbs and legumes throughout its life at Murthwaite Farm on the Howgill Fells in Cumbria, the meat is produced to the highest welfare standards, rich in omega 3, delivering a fantsatic taste that is also good for your health. Produced and processed locally, our beef has travelled less than 50 food miles in its whole life, therefore it has 100% traceability and the lowest possible carbon footprint.
Our Hoggett is sheep meat, 12-24 months old, reared on the Howgill Fells and fattened on the lowlands around Sedbergh. Unlike lamb, which is often slaughtered shortly after weaning, our Hoggett benefits from the flavours of the grasses, legumes and herbs of the Howgill Fells.
Producing hoggett allows us to employ a very low intensity farming system, lambing in late April onto rich spring grass and bringing them down onto the lowlands of Sedbergh for winter provides optimal animal welfare conditions.
High in nutriants from the fells on which they are produced, Fell Hogget is also good for your health. Produced and processed locally, our hoggett has travelled less than 50 food miles in its whole life, therefore it has 100% traceability and the lowest possible carbon footprint.
Berkshire Pigs are the oldest native breed pig in the UK, known to feed Oliver Cromwell's army in the English Civil War. There are less than 200 breeding sows left worldwide. In buying this pork, you are directly helping to conserve the breed by providing commercial viability.
Our Rare Breed Berkshire Pork is produced in an outdoor, free range system, providing optimal animal welfare whilst at the same time allowing the meat to mature. Sows farrow in open pens and rear their weaners naturally to provide optimal animal welfare conditions. Produced and processed locally, our pork has travelled less than 30 food miles in its whole life, therefore it has 100% traceability and the lowest possible carbon footprint.
